BIRR SENIOR SCRATCH CUP
The Senior Scratch Cup sponsored by Michael Horan’s Golf Shop will no doubt bring a very large entry to the Glenns on Sunday. This event, first played for in 1958, has over the years attracted the cream of Irish golfers. Names on the trophy include J.B. Carr, Tom Craddock, Des Smyth, Greg Younge, Padraig Harrington, not forgetting our own Richie Coughlan, Joe Lyons, Michael Horan, Michael Coughlan and a host of others. We see that John Gilmartin who in 1959 and 1961 is still as handy as ever from tee to green.
The Junior Scratch Cup is also on the menu. We are certainly in for a feast of golf this weekend.
