OPEN 3-BALL
The final of the Open 3-Ball took place on Saturday morning in splendid conditions. The winning team comprised Violet Mooney, Tullamore, Daryl Lowry, Kilcormac and Roger Byrne, Birr returned an excellent 90 pts. To capture the brilliant prize of a set of Callaway irons sponsored by Michael Horan’s Golf Shop and Callaway Ltd. At the presentation Captain Bernard Kennedy congratulated the winners and thanked the sponsors for their generosity. He gave special thanks to Francie Horan and his committee for organising the competition and noted the large number of visitors who played over the winter and spring. He also made special mention of the markers who accompanied the teams on the morning. He announced that next year’s competition would start on 1 September when hopefully weather conditions will be an improvement on last year. In reply Violet Mooney stated how thrilled she and her team were to capture such a marvellous prize and and thanked the organisers and sponsors for their work and generosity.
Captain Bernard drew attention to the great victory of our Junior Foursomes team in Mullingar on the previous Monday. He said that the team of Eric Byrne, Ronan Murphy Conor and Sean Stone having qualified from the morning session went on defeat the Hermitage in the semi final and Naas in the final. The team is now in the Leinster finals which will be played in Beaverstown on 29 July. The Captain drew attention to the many dedicated hours given to the Juniors by Christy McGarry, Brian Guinan and John Coleman throughout the year.

PRESIDENTS’ MIXED
Presidents David and Doreen are very pleased with the numbers playing in the mixed scramble on Monday evenings. They wish to point out that this competition is ideal for beginners and all new members should come along and enjoy a pleasant round.
INTER CLUB
Manager Brian Guinan has announced the panel for the next round of the prestigious O’Moore Cup competition. Having already sent Athenry packing, Brian is confident that his selection of Tom King Seamas Coakley Dick Quinn Eamon Moore Pat Scully Thady Clancy Charlie Brophy Dan Kealy and Christy McGarry will not be found wanting against Moate next Saturday.
DANGER
The attention of members is drawn to the fact that all aquatic, piscatorial or other gaming pursuits are strictly prohibited on the lakes off the 4th and 5th fairways. The Club cannot afford to employ permanent lifeguards at present. When finances improve the above strictures will no doubt be reconsidered and members will be appraised of such in due course.
LADIES’ GOLF
Mixed Scramble. The three ball mixed scramble sponsored by John & Mary Grennan Rath was held on Sunday 27th June. A good turn out on the lovely evening returned super results. Thanks to our generous sponsor John & Mary. 1st Angela Hough, Francie Horan and Eric Byrne – 57.6; 2nd Liz Nolan, Pascal Foley and Stephen Grogan – 59.2; 3rd Conor Stone, Liam Smyth and Des Mannion – 60.2
Mr. Captain’s Prize to the Ladies. The Captain’s Prize to the Ladies was held on the previous Sunday 20th June again in glorious conditions.
