One of the busiest weekends of the year saw The Glenns fielding four teams. The O’Moore team under managers Brian Guinan and Joe Hynes saw off Athenry by 4 and 3. Christy McGarry and Dick Quinn had easy wins at home while Seamas Coakley and Eamon Moore triumphed in Athenry. Tom King, Pat Scully and Thady Clancy didn’t have the best of luck. The next match is against Moate.
The Diageo Mixed managed by Presidents David and Doreen saw off a powerful Carlow team also by 4 and 3. Playing at home were Seamas Breen/Aileen Watkins,(won) Jerome Molloy/Frances Ashe and Bernard McGurk/Ena Guilfoyle (won). Playing n Carlow were Marie Tooher/Joe Slevin (won), Captain/Lady Captain, Roger Byrne/Aileen Watkins (won) and Mary Grennan/John Irwin. The team has now reached the semi-final and will meet Mount Temple in the next round. With the scalps of Kilkenny and Carlow already in their bags this team must feel confident going into the next round.
