NOTICE TO JUNIORS
Juniors should note that they must play off the green markers. The ladies tees are reserved for the ladies and the juniors are requested to use the green markers.
Golf lessons will be available for the under 12s and will commence when the Primary Schools close at the end of June. Please contact the office (057 912 0082) for further details.
LADIES’ GOLF
Semi-Open Day. A Semi-Open Day will be held on Wednesday, 12th May. This day was kindly sponsored by Monaincha Health & Spa, Roscrea. The results are as follows:

Congratulations to Martina O’Brien and Mary Grennan on taking the honours in Mullingar on last Wednesday in the Lancóme Scotch Foursomes with a superb score of 43 points.

Tipperary V Offaly. Sunday, 30th May the Annual Tipperary Versus Offaly Challenge will take place. Prizes again are kindly sponsored by Anne & Georgina of Gaelic4orce. The sheet for entries will be posted on the notice board for your attention and the ‘neutrals’ can opt for whichever team they prefer!! Do put your name down and enjoy the lighter side of golf for this day. Lady Captain we believe is having some vocal tuition for ‘Slievenamon’!
Open Weekend. Sunday 6th and Monday 7th June we have Open Weekend with Hugo Loonam Motors, Cloghan kindly sponsoring the competition. An ideal opportunity to invite the golfing pals from away clubs to play in the Glenns. Format is Team of Two any combination. The timesheet will be available shortly for your attention.
I.L.G.U. Team Events. Monday – 10th May – Junior Cup V Tullamore in Rathdowney – Team Manager Yvonne Boland – The Junior Cup Team went down to Tullamore last Monday – well done to all involved.
Friday – 14th May – Senior Cup in Mullingar – Team Manager Bernadette McTague – Again well done to the girls on a super performance against Mullingar but unfortunately local knowledge won out on the morning.
Monday – 17th May – Challenge Cup V The Heritage in Rathdowney – Team Manager Elizabeth Mulcair.
Monday – 17th May – Intermediate Cup V Roscrea in Mullingar – Team Manager Martina O’Brien.
Wednesday – 19th May – Junior Foursomes V Castlebearna in Moate
Saturday – 22nd May – Boyne Trophy V Nenagh
As you can see the teams are extremely busy in this coming week. Best wishes to all the ladies taking part and also to the team managers.
INTER CLUB
Well done to our Diageo Mixed on an exciting win over a strong Kilkenny team on Sunday. Our Presidents David and Doreen’s selection won two away and two at home and now face the winners of Roscrea/Carlow in the next round.
Playing at home were: John Irwin/Mary Grennan, Arthur Joyce/Ena Guilfoyle and Roger Byrne/ Carina Gleeson. Away were: Joe Slevin/Marie Tooher, Captains Bernard Kennedy/Kathleen Doorley, Pat Molloy/Frances Ashe and Seamus Breen/Aileen Watkins.
On Saturday in Tullamore at 12.40 our Pierce Purcell team under managers Brian Guinan and Tony McTague play in the qualifying round. The team is : Matt Feenane/Enda Carroll, Dick Johnston/John Wims, Mark Corrigan/Pat Molloy, John Kelly/John Connell and Tommy Hogan/John Conniffe. Subs are John Ryan, Gerr Coughlan, Roddy Molloy and Bernard Kennedy(Captain) They are wished the best of luck.
Our Duggan Cup and Provincial Towns’ teams bowed out gracefully over the weekend. Much thanks to all who represented the Club.
