Captain’s Prize The qualifying round of Captain Tom Rigney’s prize, sponsored by Shannon Development, got off to an exciting start on Saturday and Sunday. A large turnout saw 5 handicapper Roger Byrne return a 62 nett, five shots ahead of President Tony McCormack’s 67 nett. Playing phenomenal golf Roger has set a new course record and it will take an exceptional round to catch him in the final next Sunday. Overall only seven golfers finished under 70. Apart from Saturday afternoon weather conditions were pretty good so it must be claimed that the new course is no easy option playing off the back tees. Best of luck to the Captain and all players in the final. Presentation of prizes will be at 9pm followed by music and dancing.
