Inter Club
Well done to the Heineken Mixed under managers Bernie McTague and Michael Liffey and their team on a comprehensive victory over Rathdowney on Sunday. With three wins at home and three away in pretty miserable conditions there is no doubting their prowess. We look forward to the final in Roscrea on Fri.29th and hope for a repeat performance.
Playing at home were Kathleen Doorley/Michael Liffey, Ann Kenny/Pat Molloy and Aileen Watkins/Billy Donlon. Away were Gemma Butlet/Bernard Kennedy, Mary Ryan/ Mihael Ashe, Marie Tooher/ Joe Slevin and Tori Baker/Eddie Nevin.
The Midland Seniors won two away in Athy but due to a downpour in Birr the matches were called in. The remaining holes will be played out on Friday at 7.00 pm.
The date for the Tudenham Cup v Portarlington has not been finalised as yet.
Thanks
The Ladies’ Committeee wish to express their indebtness to John and Mary Grennan for their sponsorship of the Two Persons Team Competition on the 9th and 10th of August. This was a tremendous success in spite of the very unfavourable weather conditions. The competition was very well supported which is a tribute to John and Mary’s popularity and generosity. The presentation of prizes will take place at the end of the month.
Sympathy
The members express deepest sympathy to the Owens family on the death of Bill, a longstanding and dedicated member of our Club. Also to John Roche and his family on the death of his father Thomas in Clifden last week.
