Good news
The news that all members have been waiting for is that the newly developed lands will be open for the Fourth Annual Development Classic on Sunday and Monday August 3rd and 4th. Some extra work still needs to be done on the 11th and 18th and this should be completed within the next couple of weeks. The Development Committee also intends opening the new course for the Captains’ Prizes in mid August. The members have generously supported the Classic since the beginning and they are delighted to see that so much progress has been made in recent years. All are encouraged to enter teams, sponsor holes and tees and help with the organising of the event. Time sheets are in the locker rooms and further information can be had from Francie Horan.

Inter Club Matches
A very successful week all told for our teams. The Heineken Mixed under Presidents Bernie And Michael had a splendid win over Portarlington on Thursday. Playing at home were Kathleen Doorley/Michael Liffey, Ann Kenny/Pat Molloy and Aileen Watkins/Billy Donlon. Away were Gemma Butlet/Bernard Kennedy, Mary Ryan/ Michael Ashe, Marie Tooher/ Joe Slevin and Tori Baker/Eddie Nevin.
Defending their title our Tudenham Cup team found the going difficult against Moate but came away victorious after a hard battle. The team under managers Michael Liffey and Tony McTague consisted of: Michael Yates/Jonathan Kelly and Seamas Breen/Albert Kelly at home. Playing away were Billy Donlon/Tony McTague, Roger Byrne/Pat Madden and Robbie Sheils/KP Kelly.
Volunteers
The Captains are delighted with the numbers who turn up each Wednesday evening to help with course work and thank all most sincerely. Work continues this Wed. from 5 pm to 7 pm. All are very welcome. So please come along with spade, strimmer or clipper.
Ladies Golf
The Boyne team added further glory to our successful year of inter club matches by
beating Highfield decisively. Mary Grennan led Ena Guilfoyle & Marie Tooher; Gemma Butler & Maura Flannery; Mary Ryan & Kathleen Doorley; Anne Kenny & Mary Sullivan and Martina O’Brien & Aileen Watkins to a decisive win against Highfield. Well done to all involved, to those on the sidelines as well as to the great players. Now, on to the 4th round! Weather continues to disappoint, but hopefully the Tipperary v Offaly Match will change the recent trend – it’s not too late to enter – put your name down on the list in the locker room. Presentation of the valuable Trophy will follow as well as prizes including those for outstanding earlier competitions at 9pm. Catering will be available – so we all look forward to a fiercely played match followed by renewed friendships and good ladies social .... The second day of the 18-hole Stableford competition so kindly sponsored by Geranne’s boutique is on Wednesday. Draws for playing partners at 10 am & 2pm – play by arranging your playing partner after 4pm. A Medal Competition sponsored by Michael Horan is scheduled for Saturday July 26th & Wednesday 30th. A good idea to check on your equipment - new balls at the least, but a new long straight hitting driver or putter that stops you missing the hole could be the factor to start you on a winning streak.
