Golfing in the Glenns

Course Developments
With the return of the course contractors many changes and further developments have been noted. The eleventh green has been enlarged and mounds and bunkers have been added. The eighteenth now has two new bunkers and some extra drainage. Work has also taken place on the new first. Hopefully the water that lodged ther over the winter will find a new home. With the removal of protective netting and the ropes the course is taking on a more attractive appearance with all members looking forward to exciting times later in the Summer.
Michael Loughnane Seat
On Sunday next all members are invited to attend the presentation of the Michael Loughnane memorial seat to the Club. The seat is positioned on the new fourth tee facing towards the Club which Michael loved so much. He devoted many hours of his time to the running of The Glenns and contributed most generously towards the dozens of developments over the years. His family have kindly donated the seat in his honour. A most fitting memorial to his memory.

They won five of the last six. The Guinan/Ashe combination kept the home end up by winning a tough match on the 20th. Well done to managers Mary Ryan and Francie Horan.
Hard luck toTim Kenny and his Duggan Cup team who went down 3/2 to Roscrea.

Ladies Golf
Mary Ryan, Rita Delaney & Christine Bruce were the winning team in the AIB Ladies Irish Open Club Challenge. We hope their winning score (106 aggregate points) will rank among the best 120 countrywide giving them a place in the play-off in June.
Evelyn Lynch’s Senior Foursome team of Mary Ryan & Martina O’Brien; Ena Guilfoyle & Anne Kenny and Kathleen Doorley & Sheila Brennan successfully defended at home against Coolattin and they now proceed to the 3rd Round.
Mona Collins suffered the disappointment of seeing her Challenge Team beaten by Wicklow. Betty Feighery, Liz Nolan & Aileen Watkins played at home, Kay Kelly & Liz Pardy in Wicklow. All played tough tight matches and will live to compete again.
The Newbridge Mixed team managed by Francie Horan & Mary Ryan beat Mount Temple.
