Austin Gleeson Mixed
The draw has been made for the Austin Gleeson Mixed Matchplay with the preliminary round to be played by Sat. 26 April. This new competition in memory of a very dedicated member of the Club should prove extremely popular. Austin devoted many hours to the advancement of the Glenns while his family has been more than generous in supporting the recent developments.

Ladies Golf
The first 18-hole competition of 2008, Yvonne Claffey’s prize, was played on Sunday April 13th. The event was won by Siobhan Tynan with nett 70. Pauline Needham pipped Mary Sullivan for 2nd place on the back 9 holes – both scored nett 71. The gross score prize was won by Gemma Butler with a score of 79. Rita Delaney took 4th prize with 72 nett.
The Senior Foursome team captained by Evelyn Lynch scored a fine win over Mullingar last week.The AA sponsored Inter Club Matchplay is now in full swing.Our Challenge, Minor & Intermediate teams all play matches in the coming eight days.
Patrice Delaney played for Ireland at Craigelaw in Scotland on 10th & 11th April in the under-16 category. Patrice has now been selected for coaching with the under-18 squad.
Inter Club
Congratulations to the Newbridge Mixed on their fine win over Glasson last week. The team managed by Presidents Michael Liffey and Bernie McTague was: at home Rita Delaney/ John Dwyer winning on the 18th; Frances Ashe/Brian Guinan, winning on the 15th and Ena Guilfoyle/Ger Gath. Away were: Mary Grennan/David Byrne winning on the 18th and Pat Maher/Annette Kenny all flat. Next time out they play the winners of Moate and Mount Temple. Next Thurs. 17th our South Leinsters take on Cill Dara with with 4 home and 3 away. The home players are: Tom King, Pat Gleeson, Aidan Farrelly and Seamas Coakley. Away are Martin Hynes, Seamas Guinan and Jim McGovern. Substitutes are Charlie Brophy, Bennie Larkin and Tom Duffy. We wish them the best of luck.
