Inter Club Competitions
The Men’s Committee have decided to reverse a previous decision and will now enter teams in all the GUI run competitions. Within the next few weeks the Mixed Foursome and the South Leinster will be taking to the fairways and the Mixed Foursomes against Glasson as well as the South Leinsters against Cill Dara. The South Leinsters are taking the competition so seriously that they have a challenge arranged versus Roscrea this coming Friday at 3 pm. Hopefully a return match can be arranged for the following Friday. The Ladies Senior Foursomes played Mullingar in Birr on Thursday. The team had a good win at home against Mullingar. Manager was Evelyn Lynch and the team comprised Gemma Butler/Mary O’Gorman, Ann Kenny/Ena Guilfoyle and Sheila Brennan/Kathleen Doorley. The Junior Foursomes team won well at home: Martina O’Brien was manager and the team Rita Enright/Frances Ashe, Maura Flannery/Rita Delaney and Mona Collins/Marie Tooher. Unfortunately neither team qualified as their opponents returned better scores in the away matches
The Fred Daly Juniors took part in the qualifying round on Thursday at Esker Hills. The team consisting of Stephen Brummell, Simon Hogan, Tomas Bolger, Daryl Nolan, Richard Grogan, Nicholas Kennedy and Gavin Young under manager Francie Horan performed excellently
