Ladies’ Social Night
Lady Captain Colette O’Brien and her Social Committee recently organised a hugely successful night in the Club involving the lady members and their friends. Following a fabulous dinner provided by Cathal and his staff, many of the ladies retired to a session of Poker, Twenty Five and Bridge. Others preferred to mingle, chat and solve the problems of the day. The consensus was that all enjoyed the evening, so much so that another social evening has been arranged for Leap Year night Friday 29 Feb. at 7.30 pm. The Captain and Social Committee look forward to meeting the members and their guests for another great social gathering.
Spring Leagues
The Birr Credit Union Spring Leagues are in full swing. The ladies are into their final rounds while the men have been given a one week’s extension to Sun. 2 March. This is due to the closure of the course because of the frosty conditions and the involvement of the Birr team in the All-Ireland semi final. Best of luck to our hurlers.
For your diary
The Birr Credit Union Sponsored Leagues continue. The men have an extra week in which to play the first three rounds. The ladies have started the final rounds with the old fifth tee back in use.

Ladies League sponsored by Birr Credit Union. Team O Led by Maura Flannery are in the lead with 184 pts. Teams H (Lena Guinan) and K(Mary Madden) follow on with 172 pts. Teams L (June Carroll) and B (Lady President Bernadette McTague) have 169 pts.
Subscriptions
Members are reminded that subscriptions are due on or before 31 March. After that date vouchers will not be issued with subs. So please contact Joan Grimes in the office with your subscriptions.
Locker shed
This electricity points are being installed in the locker shed at present.. It is hoped to have spaces for up to sixty caddy cars. Also members who have caddy cars in the old professional’s shop will be accommodated in the newly refurbished locker shed.
Young Masters’ Golf
Kevin McGrath, golf professional, invites applications for his Young Masters’ Golf lessons. These will start at the end of February and all interested in taking part should apply without delay.
Sympathy
The members extend deepest sympathy to Brian Guinan and his family on the death of his sister Ita Donnegan in Surrey last week. Also to Tom Higgins and his family on the death of his mother Kathleen in Birr at the weekend.
